ii) What information do I need to provide to begin EPR registration?
While requirements vary by category, most businesses will need :
- Consent to Establish (CTE) and Consent to Operate (CTO) from the State Pollution Control Board
- GST registration certificate
- Standard business incorporation documents

2. EPR Compliance
i) What is EPR - and why does it matter for my business?
Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is a regulatory framework that makes businesses legally responsible for the end-of-life management of the products they place on the market. If you manufacture, import, or sell , EPR obligations likely apply to you.
In practice, this means registering on the CPCB portal, meeting annual recycling targets, procuring EPR credits from registered recyclers, and filing returns – all within regulatory deadlines.
Non-compliance carries financial penalties and can affect your ability to operate in regulated markets. MEW helps you stay ahead of it.

iv) Who falls under EPR obligations - and does MEW work with all of them?
Under India’s EPR regulations, the following entities have compliance obligations :
- Producers – manufacturers who sell packaged or regulated products in India
- Importers – businesses bringing packaged goods or regulated products into India
- Brand owners – entities whose brand appears on a product, regardless of who manufactured it

v) Does MEW work with recyclers - and how does that benefit producers?
Yes. MEW works with both sides of the EPR ecosystem – obligated entities (producers, importers, and brand owners) and registered recyclers.
Producers need EPR credits to meet their annual targets. Recyclers generate those credits by processing waste. MEW facilitates this connection – onboarding verified recyclers, managing credit procurement, and ensuring the transaction trail is clean and portal-compliant on both ends.
Working across both sides means MEW can close the loop on your compliance, rather than leaving you to coordinate between multiple parties yourself.
vi) How are credits verified?
EPR credits are generated on the CPCB portal when registered recyclers upload their processing certificates – proof that a defined quantity of waste has been processed. MEW manages both sides of this: ensuring recycler certificates are valid and quantities are accurate before credits are procured, then reconciling those credits against your annual targets and filing returns that confirm compliance.
Every credit MEW processes is backed by documentation that traces the waste from collection point to final processing – so if a credit is ever questioned, the paper trail is already in place.

Yes. MEW designs and manages reverse logistics networks across India – covering waste collection, aggregation, and transportation to authorized recyclers.
Every stage of material movement is tracked and documented, creating a clear chain of custody from point of collection to final processing. All recyclers in our network are verified and authorized under applicable regulations, so there are no compliance gaps in the chain.

i) Does MEW work beyond EPR - do you cover ESG, carbon, and CBAM?
Yes. MEW began with EPR and battery recycling, and has since expanded into a broader sustainability advisory practice.
